Goldesberry Opens 2024 With Top 10 at Beaver Dam

2024 promises to be an exciting season for the Jordan Goldesberry Motorsports camp. Once again representing Rockstar Energy Drink as well as new partners in Flamin’ Hot and HyVee Fast & Fresh, the team has high aspirations and got things off to a solid start this past weekend at the Jim Wipperfurth Memorial with the IRA Sprints.

Qualifying 11th out of a 30-car field to start the night wasn’t an ideal start for the #65 team, but fueling issues hampered their progress early in time trials and their heat race.

“We were fighting some fueling things early on in the night.” Goldesberry admitted. “We still managed to put in a decent qualifying lap and bounced back to make the dash and definitely had some speed there.”

After a heat race win from pole position, Goldesberry lined up on the pole of Dash #1 with Scotty Thiel starting directly behind the Rockstar Energy Drink #65. Goldesberry and Thiel waged war for the top spot on the opening two laps, before slight contact between the pair sent Goldesberry spinning. In the restart, the 2022 IRA champion fought back to 3rd place at the finish of the 4 lap affair.

The track had been wide and top-side dominant for the majority of the night, but the 25 lap feature event uncharacteristically favored the bottom lane and Goldesberry admits they didn’t anticipate the change in track conditions.

“We just missed it a bit for the feature.” Goldesberry stated. “The track earlier in the night showed us that it wouldn’t be on the bottom for long, but the top side never really came in, which is what we planned for. I think we were a top 5 car early on but faded a bit towards the end. We battled hard and salvaged a top 10.”

After running up front early on, Goldesberry had intense battles with the likes of Mike Reinke, Danny Schlafer, Travis Arenz and Bryce Norris and came across the line 7th.

“Definitely a solid start to the season.” Goldesberry said. “We have a solid jumping off point now and it felt great to be back on track.”

Next up on the Springfield, IL based team’s schedule will be a doubleheader weekend with the MOWA sprint cars in Illinois, beginning Friday, April 26th at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL and finishing Saturday, April 27th at Red Hill Raceway just down the road in Sumner, IL.

The team will name back with the IRA Sprints on May 3rd and 4th at Minnesota’s Ogilve Raceway and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI.

The entire 2024 IRA Sprints season will be broadcast live on FloRacing, and additional “outside” races will be added to Jordan Goldesberry Motorsports’ 2024 schedule at a later date.
