Goldesberry Wins Beaver Dam

With August quickly drawing to a close, the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints entered the Beaver Dam Raceway to compete. With 29 cars on hand, Osborn and Son Trucking Qualifying was topped by Bill Balog, who had spent the last two nights running without the wing with USAC. Behind Balog it was Scotty Thiel, Blake Nimee and Mike Reinke. Jake Blackhurst in the Oz Motorsports 73 was fifth quick.

Heat race number one saw Bill Balog quickly move from his fourth starting spot into second behind Moughan. As the race continued Balog was able to catch Moughan's 73AF and work his way past, claiming the victory. Moughan was second over Indiana’s Brinton Marvel. Mike Reinke came home in fourth followed by Dave Uttech.

The second heat race was claimed by local favorite and two time IRA champion Scotty Neitzel over Jake Blackhurst and ScottyThiel. Sean Rayhall and Kyle Schuett rounded out the top 5.

The final heat race saw Illinois native Jordan Goldesberry pick up the victory over Blake Nimee. Danny Schlafer would finish in the third position followed by Josh Walter and Jeremy Schultz.

A pair of dashes would be next to set the front five rows of the A main. Dash 1 saw Blake Nimee in the SRF 79 take the victory and claim the pole starting spot for the 30 lap feature. Behind him it was Neitzel, Reinke, Walter and Marvel.

Dash 2 saw Jordan Goldesberry take the initial lead over Balog. Balog followed Goldesberry for the duration of the dash but was unable to make a pass, allowing Goldesberry to claim the outside front row starting position for the A main. Balog would be second over Jake Blackhurst, Scotty Thiel, and Sean Rayhall.

The B main was the last race to set the field for the A main. Todd Daun lead all 12 laps to claim the Checkered flag. Behind Daun was California's Austin Deblauw, Johnny Fahl, Todd King, and a hard charging Robbie Pribnow.

With the field of 24 set it was time for the main event. Blake Nimee took the initial lead, establishing some distance between himself and Jordan Goldesberry. Balog ran in 3rd losing some ground to the pair. As Nimee caught the tail end of the field, Goldesberry and Balog were able to catch him and the trio began to race through traffic. Jordan would seemingly find the right line, using a lap car as a pick to move past Nimees 79 and into the lead. Balog would also attempt to pass Nimee in lapped traffic, but Nimee kept battling back into the second position. Past the halfway point, a series of cautions would litter the end of the race. On each caution, Goldesberry would be able to establish a gap, while Balog would throw a new move at Nimee in an attempt to take the second position. Nimee showed his skill, as he battled back each time, never relinquishing the second spot. As the Checkered flag flew, for the fourth time in his career Jordan Goldesberry was victorious with the IRA. Blake Nimee finished in second, and. Bill Balog who had not lost a regular sanctioned IRA event in 2020 finished third. Mike Reinke and Jake Blackhurst rounded out the top 5.
