Scotty Thiel Back in Victory Lane at Angell Park

Scotty Thiel and his Scott Thiel Motorsports team we’re finally able to overcome their bad luck and break back into victory lane at the annual Corn Fest at Angell Park.

23 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association sprint cars signed in for action at Angell Park for the huge Corn Fest Race night. Qualifying saw Jeremy Schultz set quick time over Bill Balog. Paul Nienhiser would time 3rd with Scotty Thiel in 4th and Australian Brooke Tatnell in 5th.

Heat race number one saw Illinois' Jim Moughan pick up the win over Scotty Thiel, who was on a mission to regain the points lead he lost the night previous at Wilmot. Schultz would finish in 3rd with 2 time little 500 champion Jacob Wilson in 4th. Brandon McMullen rounded out the top 5 in his Bob Hood Motorsports 10w.

Heat number two was won by two time series champion Scotty Neitzel over Steve Meyer. Bill Balog finished in third followed by Brooke Tatnell and Jake Blackhurst, who entered the night leading points.

The third and final heat race was claimed by Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer. Paul Nienhiser grabbed seconnd away from Russel Borland in the last corner. Jordan Goldesberry claimed 4th and Kris Spitz was 5th.

A main action went quick and Scotty Thiel took the early lead and never looked back. Thiel lead all 30 laps around the the tricky bullring, to pick up the victory and finally snap the streak of bad luck that has been plaguing his team. Bill Balog moved from 6th to 2nd and was closing in on Thiel but ran out of time when the checkered flags fell. Third went to Jeremy Schultz followed by Jordan Goldesberry in 4th and 11th starting Steve Meyer in 5th.
