Sadden at the Passing of Chuck Merrill founder of Maxim Racing Chassis
The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Maxim Chassis founder Chuck Merrill. When I first took over the series in 93 and began putting a contingency program together, Chuck was one of the first, if not the very first, to jump on board. Enjoyed many a conversation, and a few lunches where he educated me and took years off my life by introducing me Howie, Scotty , and Rick to a “horseshoe” at his favorite Springfield diner…. More than once. In recent years we shared some texts and Facebook messages but he will absolutely be remembered by me as one of the best people I’ve had the pleasure to meet in this sport. Our relationship with Maxim has continued on with Dan & Ron and has been hugely beneficial to all of us, and helped MANY a racer, which was the initial intent of Chuck’s. You’ll be missed sir…. Steve
