IRA Interstate Racing Association

IRA Double Header Weekend

This weekend the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association returns to the track with a huge 2 day weekend.
Saturday, June 30th, the winged sprint cars return to the Dirt Oval at Route 66, as the IRA is joined by Tony Stewart’s All Stars Circuit of Champions. Earlier in the day the NASCAR Xfinity series will race on the Chicagoland Speedway right across the street, allowing fans to easily enjoy 2 great races in one day. Last years event at the Dirt Oval saw Bill Balog score his 100th career IRA win, Balog will definitely be looking to pick up another win this time around, but with a full field of IRA drivers including Scotty Thiel, and Jake Blackhurst, who sit 1st and 2nd in points. They will also have to contend with a stacked field of All Star drivers including Carson Macedo and Aaron Reutzel. Finally with the NASCAR stars just across the street, you never know who might show up at the dirt track.

On Sunday the series travels north to the 141 Speedway for their 2nd visit to the high banked dirt track of 2018. Sunday’s event is night 2 of the Hopf Farms Bullring Showdown. Dean and Stacy Hopf have created a great 5 night championship throughout the summer, that last year came down to the final night. Scotty Thiel’s STM #64 leads Bill Balog’s Rhine Auto #17B by 1 point going into Sunday. If Thiel wants to keep the points lead he will need a much better night then last time he visited 141 as an early crash relegated him to a 23rd place finish, while. Bill Balog picked up the win.
As a special treat, the first 150 kids who enter the 141 speedway on Sunday night will get a free flag courtesy of Hopf Farms!
