Goldesberry Holds Off Neitzel for Fair Win

27 of the best of the Upper Midwest checked in to battle at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds at Wilmot Raceway. The teams were eager to finally take to the track as all other previous scheduled Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car had been rained out. Along with the 410 Sprint cars, they were joined by 42 Wisconsin Wingless Sprints, and 20 IRA Lightning Sprints.

Hats off to the track crew for prepping the track and defending it against Mother Nature’s intent to cancel the event. Glad we had an awesome team to be able to salvage the track and get us racing. The track provided excellent racing in all classes because of their dedication. Thank you.

On top of the speed charts and claiming the extra $200 from lakehomeretreats.com was the “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel.

During heat race action; Blake Nimee, Jake Blackhurst, and Danny Schlafer would be victorious taking their perspective heat races.

Dash one was won by the Oswego, IL native of Blake Nimee and dash number two was won by the “Hanna City Outlaw” Jake Blackhurst.

When we dropped the green on the 35 lap feature on the Roger Iles Tribute night, it was Nimee on top. Blackhurst and Schultz would be closely following him waiting to make their move. When the leaders reached lap traffic, Blackhurst would make a move for the lead and would take it maneuvering around traffic. Goldesberry and Biertzer would also make their way up to the top 3 during this time as well. With the Rhine Auto 39 car checking out, it was Schultz, Nimee, Goldesberry, and Biertzer exchanging positions. A caution would be thrown for the 26 of Tischendorf who was spun in turn three. Thirteen remained when we threw the green again with Blackhurst leading followed by Goldesberry, Schultz, Nimee, and Thiel. Thiel, who started in the 19th spot, had made his way up 14 positions. Thiel would make the pass on the 79 for fourth and was in pursuit of podium finish. Behind Thiel also making his presence known was the 2w of Scotty Neitzel who also passed Nimee that time by. Thiel makes the pass for third as another cation is thrown for Jordan Paulsen stopped on turn 4. Six laps remained as we set the field back to green as Blackhurst would lead the field to the green once more. On the restart lap, Goldesberry would successfully make the pass on the backstretch for the lead and would make it five to go. Neitzel would grab second on the lap after and began hunting down Goldesberry for the lead. The crowd roared as the white flag would be thrown for Goldesberry and Neitzel. Goldesberry would take home the win at the Kenosha County Fair at Wilmot Raceway. Neitzel would finish second, and Blackhurst would hang onto third.
