TWO TO GO: Thiel podiums at 141; Two IRA championship rounds remain

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (September 16, 2024) - The “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Team 73 continued their march toward the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series championship during the recent weekend, padding the stat book, as well as their points lead, with a podium performance at 141 Speedway in Maribel, Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 14.
Thiel, who now owns an 80-point lead in the IRA title chase, finished second in his 141 visit, commencing the evening’s main event from the exact same position. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native did find the front for the brief moment in the 30-lap contest, that until Jordan Goldesberry slipped by on the bottom with less than ten remaining. The Big Wheel pushed hard to regain control, but with a championship in sight, a conservative effort the remaining distance would suffice.
“We were pretty strong the entire race. I probably could have done a better job at protecting the front once we got there, but I didn’t want to push too hard. We’ve come this far and we wanted to be in a great position for the last two rounds,” Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, Iron Buffalo Saloon, GRP Motorsports, Lake Home Retreats, Elliott Family, Diamond Pools, No. 73 sprint car, said. “Hats off to everyone involved with this race team. I’m not one for jinxing ourselves, but our goal is in reach. It’s up to us to capitalize.”

Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will close out the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series schedule with visits to Mississippi Thunder Speedway and the Plymouth Dirt Track on Friday and Saturday, September 27-28.
