WILMOT RACEWAY OPENS 2013 SEASON WITH BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINT SERIES SPECIAL!

Series Regulars Look to Reclaim Wilmot Raceway Victory Lane!

May 8, 2013, Wilmot, WI – Last weekend Wilmot Raceway lay dormant as the season opener at the historic raceway was postponed due to a continuation of a very wet spring. This weekend the raceway will be shaken to it’s core. The 2013 season is set to get underway this Saturday Night May 11th.

The air will reverberate with the sound of the 410 cubic inch engines of the Winged Outlaw Sprints as the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series makes the first of five visits to the third-mile clay oval this season. The series fans are still recalling the amazing finish at Beaver Dam Raceway just two weeks ago where 5-time series champion Bill Balog edged out Mike Kertscher for the victory by a mere .009 seconds. He stars and cars now return to action to action at Wilmot Raceway to continue the drama and excitement which will make up the 2013 racing season.

Kertscher the 2012 Wilmot Raceway champion is set to be joined by a host of series regulars and the strongest rookie field the series has had in years. Nearly 30 drivers are expected to participate in the event.

Last year when the IRA Sprints last appeared at the raceway, outsider Paul May came in and stole a whopping $7,200 in the Roger Iles Tribute and Greg Wilson a regular on the All-Star Circuit of Champions laid claim on the runner-up finish. This left Bill Wirth to defend the IRA Outlaw Sprints honor taking the final podium spot with a solid third place showing.

Will outsiders steal the IRA Outlaw Sprints thunder? What star drivers will be on hand to challenge the best of the IRA regulars? Those answers will be revealed Saturday Night.

Joining the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be Wilmot Raceway’s popular Modified division and the Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints. Both of those classes will be racing for track points marking the first show of the 2013 title chase in those divisions.

Fans wishing to get the best seat in the house will see the Grandstand gates open at 5:00pm. Practice begins at 5:45pm followed by IRA qualifying. Opening ceremonies are set to take place at 7:00pm.

General admission grandstand tickets are $20 for adults. Those with an active military ID will receive $5 off their admission ticket. Young fans, ages 8 to 11 can attend the event for a mere $5 and children ages 7 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult.

Wilmot Raceway is located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds which is located just north of the intersection of county roads C and W in Wilmot, WI. Wilmot is located just 8 miles west of I-43 taking county highway C which is exit 345. For those seeking additional information please check out the track website at www.wilmotraceway.com or call the track on race day at 262-862-2090.
