UNIQUE TRIPLE HEADER PLANNED FOR THIS WEEKEND! TWO NIGHTS @ KENOSHA COUNTY FAIR PLUS A RETURN TO SEYMOUR!

August 12, 2014; Appleton, WI. – The home stretch of the 2014 racing season is at hand, and it will be a busy couple months for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series.

This weekend will showcase the final “Triple-Header” weekend on the 2014 schedule, with three races and three days. What makes this weekends event unique however is the fact two of those contests take place, back to back, at the birthplace of the IRA Sprints, the Wilmot Raceway.

Bother events run during the Kenosha County Fair will also pay respects to former car owner Roger Iles. On Friday night August 15th, the annual running of the “Fair Race”, will take place with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints joined by Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders. Admission to the race program is just $5 for adults with a fair admission ticket. Children ages 11 and under are admitted free, with the fair admission ticket in hand.

The same pricing will hold true for the Roger Iles Tribute presented by Carriage Auto Body on Saturday night, August 16th. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be running for an increased purse during the Tribute event. Once again the families can take in an afternoon of fun at the Kenosha County Fair and then witness the high-speed thrills on Wilmot Raceway’s third-mile clay oval. The Saturday program will showcase the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints and fans will also witness Modified, Mini-Sprint and Vintage Modified action.

Last season 2013 Wilmot Raceway champion Jeremy Schultz captured his first career IRA Sprint A-main victory in the thrilling contest outrunning six-time champion Bill Balog during the fair event. Balog came back the following evening and took home the Roger Iles Memorial trophy taking Saturday’s headlining contest. Over 30 cars are expected at both shows.

For both programs warm-ups will take place at 6:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:00 p.m. For the latest updates contact the trackside race line 262-862-2090, raceway web site www.wilmotraceway.com or for fair event information 262-862-6121 or www.kenoshacofair.com.

The Kenosha County Fairgrounds where the track resides is located just north of the intersection of county roads C and W in Wilmot, WI. Wilmot, Wisconsin is located just 8 miles west of I-94 taking county highway C which is exit 345.

Then on Sunday it’s a long awaited return to Seymour Speedway as the banked third-mile oval will showcase the 900 horsepower winged-sprints for the first time since 2008. The tracks wide sweeping turns are ideal for the open wheeled machines, which should hit nearly 120 mph.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints have twice visited the track since its reshaping to an oval in 2005. The last series event held at the track was during the 2008 racing season. Australian National champion, Brooke Tatnell, was victorious in the contest six seasons ago on August 31st, as he held off former IRA champion, Donny Goeden. Goeden was the evening’s fastest qualifier with a lap of 13.023 seconds.

As fast as that lap was on the banked third-mile oval, the current all-time track record belongs to two-time IRA champ Travis Whitney when he blistered the track in 12.672 seconds on September 2, 2007.

During that show, the main event was captured by Mike Reinke. The race ran green to checkered with the 30 laps clicking off in just a tick under eight minutes. Track record holder, Whitney, was second in that event. Those two races mark the only two appearances for sprint cars at the Seymour Speedway since the track reconfiguration from a tri-oval.

The August 17th show will also feature the tracks own divisions including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and 4 cylinders. A special format for the Seymour Speedway classes will be in place focusing on single qualifying races and feature events. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will present a full show. Fans enjoying any type of car will surely appreciate the program.

IRA Sprints will hot lap and qualify at 5:30pm with racing at set to begin at 6:00pm. Adult admission is $20

Currently Bill Balog sits atop the series standings on the strength of eight wins. The runner-up spot his hotly contest as nearly a half dozen drivers are within striking distance. Bill Rose has the position with a small advantage. Hot rookie Scotty Thiel is fresh off his first series win at Beaver Dam heads into the weekend third in points.

Series starts Scotty Neitzel and Mike Reinke both looking to end dry spells and a new venue is a perfect opportunity to visit victory lane. Other drivers expected include Steve Meyer who is celebrating his 25th season behind the wheel with rookie standout and multiple 360 Sprint champion Ben Schmidt also expected to appear.

2013 rookie Jeremy Schultz is back after a brief hiatus and already back in race winning form.

Other drivers are shooting for a position within the top ten in points include, Scott Uttech, Lance Fassbender, Kris Spitz, Russel Borland, Blake Nimee, Dave Uttech, Wayne Modjeski, Dennis Spitz and Brandon Thone. A field of two-dozen cars or more is expected for the Seymour show.

Seymour Speedway is located on the Outagamie County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located at 637 North Main St. which is just north of downtown in Seymour, Wisconsin.

The 2014 Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is in the second half of it’s 31 race schedule which presents shows at 16 different area tracks.

IRA proudly moves continues it’s 2014 season backed by its long time supporting series partners led by title sponsor Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts & Service Centers, and associate series partners Osborn & Son Trucking, TW Metals, Hoosier Tire, Cedar Creek Motorsports, Cummins Onan, and Carriage Auto Body.
