Balog Sweeps Night in Bumper to Bumper IRA Competition at Wilmot Raceway

26 cars signed in for action at the birthplace of the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association(IRA). In Osborn and Son Trucking qualifying, series point leader Bill Balog set quick time over Scotty Thiel. Dave Uttech would be 3rd in his 68 machine followed by Blake Nimee and Jake Blackhurst.

Weld Wheels heat race 1 saw Balog drive from his 4th place starting position to the win. Scotty Neitzel brought his orange 2w to 2nd. Nimee was 3rd ahead of Rusty Egan. Steve Meyer would round out the top 5 in his Meyer Electric 85m.
Allstar Performance heat race 2 saw Jordan Goldesberry lead all but the final corner, as Thiel utilized lapped traffic to get around the Rock Solid Lawn Care 65 and claim the win. Goldesberry would cross in 2nd with former Wilmot track champion Todd Daun in 3rd. Blackhurst came home in 4th and Wayne Modjeski was 5th.
DMI Racing/R&H Enterprises heat race 3, California’s Carson Macedo utilized a front row starting spot to take the early lead and eventually the win. Kris Spitz brought his 4k home in 2nd followed by Kyle Marten. Matt Vandervere and Brett Tripplet rounded out the top 5.

Behling Race Products B main saw Scott Uttech lead flag to flag to claim a spot in the A main, unfortunately due to mechanical issues Uttech would be forced to scratch from the feature. Behind Uttech, Chris Dodd came home in 2nd and Dennis Spitz in 3rd. Jeremy Schroeder brought his Bumper to Bumper of Paddock Lake 43 machine home in 4th and Mike Decker would finish in 5th.

A main Competition saw Neitzel take the early lead, over Kyle Marten and Dave Uttech. Jeremy Schultz worked his way to 3rd before mechanical issues would force him to retire for the night. As the race wore on, Carson Macedo and Bill Balog slowly worked their way through the field. With just 2 laps to go Macedo and Balog had gotten around Neitzel and ran in the 1st and 2nd position until Carson looped the Allstar Performance 3G around and brought out the caution. Balog would inherit the lead on the green white checkered. Balog was unbeatable on the restart and would claim IRA career win number 94. Neitzel claimed 2nd and Thiel snuck into 3rd at the finish. Kyle Marten finished in the 4th position and Blackhurst rounded out the top 5
