IRA Interstate Racing Association

Plymouth 8.5.17

This Saturday night, August 5th, the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA) returns to the Plymouth Dirt Track for their second visit of the 2017 season.
On June 17th, when the series ran Plymouth's 1/3 mile oval, Kyle Marten was victorious over Jeremy Schultz and Jake Blackhurst. If Marten wants to end the night in victory lane again, his toughest competition will likely come from Bill Balog and Scotty Thiel. Balog is the winningest driver in IRA competition and has 7 wins on the season. Thiel was winless until July, but since has caught fire, winning 3 of the 7 IRA races in July.
Other drivers to keep an eye on include the man sitting 3rd in points, Scotty Neitzel. Neitzel is a two time IRA champion with countless years of experience, but is still in search of his first win of the season. Russel Borland is another man to watch, as the driver of the 23 machine has been on a roll as of late earning 2 top 5 finishes in the past two races. More contenders include Dave Uttech who Is coming off his first podium finish of the year at Antigo last Friday, and Blake Nimee who is a 2015 IRA Plymouth winner earned Hard Charger honors at Wilmot's recent World of Outlaws event, and you can never count out Mike Reinke and Steve Meyer who are both due for a big 2017 night. Other series regulars Wayne Modjeski, Scott Uttech, and Bill Wirth have been showing speed as of late and could play a factor. The well manicured Sheboygan County Fair Park oval never disappoints . Add the MSA Sprints to the card too and area fans are sure to see one of the hottest nights of the summer.
