Season Opener Saturday at 34 Raceway

The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series open their 52nd season this Saturday night, April 6th, with a co-sanctioned show with MOWA. IRA will be led to West Burlington, Iowa's 34 Raceway by defending series champion Jake Blackhurst. 8-time series champion Bill Balog, 2-time champ Scotty Neitzel, and 2016 series king Jeremy Schultz will all be on hand as 12 IRA championships will be represented. Scotty Thiel who has three consecutive series runner-up finishes and who has caputured multiple feature wins in each of those years will also be on hand to do battle with many of the midwest's best at this much anticipated event. Last year's scheduled IRA season opener at 34 fell victim to frigid temps, while Paul Nienhiser captured the last IRA/MOWA event held at 34, which kicked off the 2017 season. Nienhiser is expected to be in attendance this Saturday. IRA / MOWA co-sanctions always create some intense action, and throw in a few Knoxville teams, like Brooke Tatnell, into the mix, combined with a great spring weather forecast and fans should be treated to an awesome night of winged/410 sprint action. Other perennial IRA feature winners expected to be on hand include Mike Reinke, Jordan Goldesberry, Ben Schmidt, and Steve Meyer. Other top contending IRA teams who have indicated they will be making the tow from Wisconsin include Russel Borland, Kris Spitz, 2nd year driver Hunter Custer, and more.
