Balog Takes Beaver Dam

29 teams signed into Beaver Dam Raceway on a sweltering Saturday afternoon to compete with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints.

In Osborn and Son Trucking qualifications Bill Balog set quick time around the 3/8th mile track he has dominated the last few seasons. Scotty Thiel was second quick followed by Joey Moughan and Hunter Schuerenberg. Sussex Wisconsin’s Danny Schlafer rounded out the top 5.

Heat race one saw Bill Balog continue his dominant ways as he quickly drove from fourth to the lead to take the win. Jeremy Schultz would finish second over Hunter Schuerenberg. Paul Nienhiser brought his 9x car home in fourth ahead of Dave Uttech.

The second heat race saw Russel Borland take the early lead while Scotty Thiel quickly charged from fourth to second. With just a handful of laps remaining in the heat Thiel would find his way past Borland and pick up the win. Kyle Schuett finished in third followed by Kris Spitz and Todd Daun.

The third heat race saw two time IRA champion Scotty Neitzel pick up the victory over the SRF 79 of Blake Nimee. Joey Moughan finished in third while Jordan Goldesberry brought his Rock Solid Lawn and Landscape 65 home in fourth followed by Todd King

A pair of dashes were next to line up the first 5 rows of the A main. Dash 1 that would determine the inside line saw Bill Balog take the early lead and continue to show his dominance picking up the dash win and the pole. Behind him it was Scotty Thiel, Jeremy Schultz, Russel Borland and Joey Moughan.

Dash 2 which would set the outside of the first 5 rows say Danny Schlafer took the early lead and never looked back. Behind him it was Blake Nimee over Hunter Schuerenberg. Paul Nienhiser finished in fourth and Scotty Neitzel was fifth.

After the dashes, the B main rolled on track to set the final 6 cars in the feature event. Mike Reinke making his debut behind the wheel of the Bob Hood Motorsports 10w took the early lead. Sean Rayhall moved into second but could not real in Reinke before the checkered flag fell. Behind them it would be Robbie Pribnow, Johnny Fahl, Jeremy Schroeder and Hunter Custer claiming transfer spots.

Danny Schlafer took the early lead in the A main, but Balog quickly took the lead, and Thiel was not far behind taking second from the 25 of Schlafer. As Balog entered lapped traffic, a slip up exiting turn 2 would slow Scotty Thiel and Hunter Schuerenberg, now in third, to close in on him, but Balog proved to be better in traffic and was able to hold off the duo. Balog picked up the win, completing the night sweep, and earning his fifth win of the season. Behind him Schuerenburg passed Thiel in the closing laps to score his second 2nd place finish in as many races while Thiel settled for third. Jordan Goldesberry finished 4th while Neitzel brought his 2w home in fifth.
