Nimee Wins Semmelmann Memorial

After Outagamie Speedway, the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series moved onto Beaver Dam Speedway for the Scott Semmelmann Memorial.

With Bill Balog no longer a series regular, no one has been stronger at the high banked 3/8th mile oval than Blake Nimee. Nimee finished in the runner up position the last two times the winged outlaws had visited Beaver Dam, but hoped to move up one spot on the podium.

Blake Nimee started the night out strong edging Jordan Goldesberry and the most recent IRA Beaver Dam winner, Mike Reinke out for quick time. Heat races saw more of the same as Nimee charged from 4th to the lead in just two laps, claiming the victory by over two seconds. Heats two and three saw Jeremy Schultz and Kyle Schuett pick up the wins to lock into the dashes.

With what was so far a perfect night, Blake Nimee drew the pole of dash number two, but he would be shut out of a perfect night as hometown favorite Scotty Neitzel took the win, regulating Nimee to a 4th place starting spot in the A main. With Goldesberry claiming the dash one win, Nimee would have a challenge ahead of him if he hoped to capture the victory.

Scotty Neitzel picked up right where he left off in the dash, taking the early lead while Nimee quickly moved into second and began his pursuit of the orange 2w machine. After 10 laps of stalking Neitzel, Nimee was able to move his Duffy Fleet Service 79 past Neitzel and take the lead. Nimee was able to hang on and claim the win, his first in 2170 days, having last stepped into victory lane on August 1st 2015 at the Plymouth Dirt Track. Behind Nimee, Neitzel and Danny Schlafer rounded out the podium.

The IRA sprints will be back in action this Friday night at the Langlade county fairgrounds in Antigo, Wisconsin and Saturday at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Remember, if you cannot attend live all events are streamed live on Flo racing.
