Kaleb Johnson Iowa Bound for IRA Outlaw Sprint Series Doubleheader to Open Season
Inside Line Promotions – SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (April 4, 2023) – The 2023 season has arrived for Kaleb Johnson, who is tackling a Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series doubleheader this weekend.
34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, hosts the Morning Sun Farm Implement IRA 410 Clash on Friday and Saturday. The event will mark Johnson’s debut at the dirt oval.
“Every time I’ve tried to race there it’s rained out,” he said. “I’ve watched some All Star races and World of Outlaws shows to see how the track has been and where it gets racy and where the proper racing lane turns out later in the night.
“My goal is to make some good laps and roll it into the trailer at the end of the night. The first race is always tough, especially going into a new track. If we can be competitive and roll the car into the trailer and have some good notes it’ll be a success.”
Johnson is optimistic despite the fact that he doesn’t have any laps at 34 Raceway.
“In the past whenever we go to a new track I feel we’ve done pretty decent,” he said. “We have a good baseline for most tracks, which I think helps. I’m more so just excited to get racing. It’s been a long winter.”
Johnson has made one career start with the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series. Roughly two thirds of his sprint car races this year will be in the 410ci division, including racing for points at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D.
“This weekend is a good opportunity to get some laps before we begin points racing at Huset’s,” he said. “We want to knock some rust off and make some laps; just get the racing feel again.”
