Austin Hartmann takes aim at final four races of 2023 IRA campaign

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 6, 2023 – With the end of the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season clearly in sight, Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing team are looking to close out the campaign on a strong note starting with this weekend’s trip to Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. for the Northern Nationals on Friday, Sept. 8 and the 23rd annual Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Hartmann competed in a pair of IRA events over the Labor Day weekend, which included the Harry Neitzel Tribute race at The Dodge County Fairgrounds on Friday, Sept. 1 and the annual Sheboygan County Fair Night racing program at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 2.

With a field of 23 IRA 410 Sprint Cars signed in for the Harry Neitzel Tribute at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway, Hartmann qualified 14th overall with a lap of 17.088 seconds on the cavernous track commonly known as the “horsepower half mile.”

The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award winner started and finished fifth in the second eight-lap IRA heat race.

After starting 14th in the 20-lap Harry Neitzel Tribute A main, Hartmann came home with a 19th place showing.

The Plymouth, Wis.-based team returned to its home track on Saturday, Sept. 2 for the annual Sheboygan County Fair Night racing program at The Plymouth Dirt Track.

Hartmann qualified 14th in the 30-car field with a time of 12.262 around the familiar confines of the historic third-mile clay oval.

The fourth-year Sprint Car competitor started and finished fifth in the second eight-lap IRA heat race to earn a transfer spot to the main event. Hartmann rolled off 14th and endured three caution flags to register a 19th place finish in the 30-lap IRA headliner.

The 19th place showing marked Hartmann’s 20th top-20 A-main showing in 30 events during the 2023 campaign.

Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team are set to embark on a big weekend in the Northern and Western portions of the state of Wisconsin, starting Friday, Sept. 8 at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. for the Northern Nationals.

The WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Mods will also be on the card.

Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, the 87A Hartmann Racing team will travel to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. for the prestigious 23rd annual Jerry Richert Memorial.

The all-Sprint Car program will also feature the Midwest Power Series 360 Sprint Cars and Traditional Sprint Cars.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
