Big Wheel aims for success in IRA Wisconsin double

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (April 16, 2024) - It’s been an up and down season for “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel, but in some respect, the season is just getting started, as the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is set to begin their 2024 campaign with a Wisconsin doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.

Thiel, who will chase the IRA championship in 2024, will roll into the weekend fresh off of a Show-Me State campaign with the Greatest Show On Dirt, highlighting the weekend with an A-Main appearance on Friday, April 12. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native qualified for A-Main competition via fifth-place finish in his respective heat race.

The IRA Outlaw Sprint Series will visit Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City and Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam during the coming weekend. Friday’s Mississippi Thunder appearance will be a first for the Series since 2012, Bill Balog being the victor.

The 2024 IRA agenda was scheduled to begin at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, in early April, but Mother Nature had other plans.
“We’re ready to get the IRA schedule underway,” Thiel, ace of the Team 73, Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, No. 73 sprint car, stated. “It’s been a bumpy first part of the year. Qualifying has been a challenge, and anytime you fail to qualify well, you can find yourself in a pretty big hole. We’ve been evaluating our program and I think we’re ready to get a fresh start this weekend in Wisconsin.

“Hats off to this entire team. We have a lot of great partners who believe in us and that’s a great motivator.”

ON DECK:
Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will continue their 2024 campaign with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series doubleheader at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin, and Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
