Goldesberry Charges to Score Top 5 with MOWA at Red Hill
With the IRA Sprints having the weekend off, Jordan Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team took the opportunity to run in their home state of Illinois at the Red Hill Raceway with the Midwest Open Wheel Association.
After a difficult heat race, the 2022 IRA Champion found himself starting the 25 lap A Main in the 14th position. On a hammer down and fast racetrack, Goldesberry started in spectacular fashion. The Flamin’ Hot/HyVee Fast & Fresh #65 rocketed to 6th place on the first circuit and settled into a fierce battle for a top 5 position.
On lap 16, Goldesberry overtook the 5th place car and began to close in on the top 4 and passed Adyn Schmidt for the 4th spot on lap 18. The Springfield, IL native was able to get within .055 of Ryan Bunton for 3rd place at the finish but settled for a 4th place run in a race won by Karter Sarff.
“The track was really heavy and not really my usual style.” Goldesberry said with a laugh. “Luckily we got a great start, and I was able to try and make some moves from there and ended up with a solid finish.”
Next up on the #65 team’s schedule will be a doubleheader weekend with the IRA Sprint Cars in the Upper Midwest, beginning Friday, May 3rd at Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN and finishing Saturday, May 4th at Cedar Lake Speedway back across the border in New Richmond, WI.
The entire 2024 IRA Sprints season will be broadcast live on FloRacing, and additional “outside” races will be added to Jordan Goldesberry Motorsports’ 2024 schedule at a later date.
