Thiel quick at Sycamore; High Limit at Kokomo, IRA all ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (May 13, 2024) - A not-so-swell start to the weekend quickly turned into a success story for Scotty Thiel and Team 73, eventually concluding their two-race sweep through Iowa and Illinois with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series top-five outcome at Sycamore Speedway in Sycamore, Illinois, on Saturday, May 11.

Thiel, who remains in control of the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series championship standings, finished fourth in his Sycamore appearance, maintaining his place within the top-five after starting from the pole position. Overall, it was a sound preliminary effort for the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native, kicking off the program with the third-fastest qualifying time, followed by a runner-up performance during heat race competition and an eventual dash victory.

It was accidental contact during the main event’s initial start that potentially cost “Big Wheel” his second IRA triumph of the season, actually fading back as far as sixth before recovering for the aforementioned top-five.

Prior to his visit to Sycamore, Thiel joined High Limit Racing at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Friday, May 10; Thiel was scored 20th.

“We wanted that second win of the season, but things happen. We were good enough to recover and that’s all we can ask for in that situation,” Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, No. 73 sprint car, said. “Hats off to this entire team and all of our partners. We’re fortunate to be associated with so many great people, and with a few IRA races really close to home next weekend, that would be a great time to repay them with a victory. Kokomo is first, though.”

ON DECK:
After their High Limit stop at Kokomo Speedway on Monday, Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will continue their 2024 IRA Outlaw Sprint Series campaign with a Wisconsin doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, visiting the Plymouth Dirt Track in Sheboygan, followed by a stop at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie - the speedway’s season opener.
