Thiel perfect at Dodge County Fairgrounds; IRA championship chase continues with Wilmot and Angell Park double August 17-18

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (July 29, 2024) - It was a night to remember for “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Team 73, not only concluding their Friday night visit to Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series triumph, but securing a perfect scorecard in the process, commencing preliminary competition with the night’s fastest qualifying time, as well as heat race and dash victories. Impressive enough, the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native led every circuit of the 20-lap contest, earning a $4,000 payday for his efforts in his third IRA victory of the season.

Although unable to match his Friday night perfection, Thiel’s Saturday night IRA effort at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin, was just as impressive in its own right, persevering for a sixth-place result after starting 17th on the A-Main grid.

“I really didn’t realize how good we were on Friday until the night came to a close. Looking back, we’ve put together a really sound package for Dodge County and it definitely showed this weekend,” Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, Iron Buffalo Saloon, GRP Motorsports, Lake Home Retreats, Elliott Family, Diamond Pools, No. 73 sprint car, explained. “We obviously wanted to repeat our efforts on Saturday at Plymouth, but a late pill kinda put us behind the eight ball. We tried some things to dig ourselves out of the hole, and I’m not sure anything really worked out in our favor. Regardless, to salvage a top-ten says a lot.”

Thiel and Team 73 are currently in charge of the 2024 IRA Outlaw Sprint Series championship chase, holding a 65-point margin over Hanna City, Illinois’ Jake Blackhurst.

“We’re going to enjoy a few weeks off before our next IRA start at Wilmot,” Thiel continued. “We had the Knoxville Nationals on our calendar all year, but we want to be smart with our motor situation and be ready for the remaining IRA races, as well as some other events we plan to attend.”

ON DECK:
Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will enjoy some time off before resuming IRA action at Wilmot Raceway and Angell Park Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, August 17-18.
