Thiel highlights Illinois/Wisconsin triple with top-ten at Wilmot; IRA schedule continues at Plymouth and The Hill

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (August 19, 2024) - Another busy August weekend resulted in another stack of accomplishments for Scotty Thiel and Team 73, continuing their 2024 agenda with a two-state tripleheader on Friday through Sunday, August 16-18. The team ultimately joined MOWA on Friday before resuming IRA Outlaw Sprint Series action on Saturday and Sunday.
Things started off slow for the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native, but ultimately improved, overcoming a MOWA “DNF” at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois, on Friday (power steering issue) to earn a top-ten with the IRA at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin, on Saturday - sixth at the final checkers after commencing action from one spot better. Thiel, a full-timer with IRA in 2024 and three-time winner, was third in his respective dash to earn the aforementioned third-row starting position.
Nearly matching his top-ten outcome from one night prior, Thiel and Team 73, backed by Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, Iron Buffalo Saloon, GRP Motorsports, Lake Home Retreats, Elliott Family, and Diamond Pools, concluded their sweep with an 11th-place score on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, cutting a tire early before recovering.
“Just one of those weekends. We had some high points, but not where we wanted to be,” Thiel explained. “Happy for Team 73 regardless. It’s been an up and down season for us, but the work never stops. Not sure of our plan for the coming weekend. We have some things to catch up on before the IRA schedule resumes Labor Day weekend, so we’ll see what happens.”

Scotty Thiel and Team 73 will resume IRA action with a Labor Day Weekend doubleheader at the Plymouth Dirt Track and The Hill Raceway on Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1.
