GR8 Company Tabs Will Gerrits for 2025 IRA Sprints Season
When the 2024 season ended, Will Gerrits didn’t know if he’d ever race again after leaving the team he’d raced with for his entire career.
West Bend, WI based GR8 Company made limited 410 sprint car starts in 2024, with Chase McDermand, Steven Snyder Jr. and Logan Julien all taking turns aboard the #GR8 machine.
However, the team knew this was just the beginning and wanted to go full steam ahead for 2025. They just needed to find the right driver.
“When we sat down with Will and his family, I knew we found our guy.” GR8 Company owner Russel Wetenkamp said. “He’s a great kid with a great family and people around him, and we know his talent behind the wheel will help us continue to grow this team. I couldn’t be more excited to get to 34 Raceway with him in April and see what we can do over the course of the year.”
Gerrits has a year of IRA competition under his belt to go along with 7 seasons aboard an MSA 360 where he picked up the Rookie of the Year award in 2016 along with 3 Feature Wins, 22 Top 5’s and 66 Top 10’s. The Waupun, WI native also has numerous Badger Micro Sprint wins and a championship in that series on his resume.
“I’m honored to even be considered for the GR8, I was very surprised when I got the call.” Gerrits said in a statement. “I thought my racing career may have been over after I stepped away from BGR [Brabant-Gerrits Racing]. The plan was to focus on my business but Russ called and presented me with this opportunity that I really couldn’t say no to. I’m excited to get back behind the wheel and work with Russ, Jensen, Paul and the whole crew for this season”
The team will follow the 2025 IRA Sprints schedule, spanning 7 states across the Midwest. A full 2025 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
