Logan Julien Wins at Bill Waite Jr Memorial
The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints returned to LaSalle Speedway with an outstanding 36 Sprint Cars from around the Midwest.
Fastest in Box3 Hot Laps was Logan Julien and taking home the High Planes Building Division Quicktime Award in Carbon Safety Technologies Qualifying in Flight A was Blake Nimee, with Flight B belonging to Logan Julien.
Fox Lake Harbor Presents Allstar Performance Heat #1 was won by Scott Neitzel. BodyCraft of Antioch presents Behling Racing Heat #2 was brought home by Max Guilford, Game Day Men’s Health presents Engler Machine & Tool Heat #3 was won by Jake Neuman. Heat race action concluded with Corbin Gurley winning BR Motorsports presents King Racing Products Heat #4.
Horizon Whiskey Dash Redraw sat Zach Daum and Blake Nimee on the poles on dashes who won their own dashes. An eventful Behling Racing Equipment B-Main was won by Will Armitage.
At the drop of the green for the long awaited return to LaSalle Speedway, Zach Daum took the lead out of the original turns. He led the early portion of the feature, with Logan Julien optimizing the low side of the speedway to jump immediately into second from seventh. Blake Nimee would be right behind the 16 year old. Nimee, with numerous laps on LaSalle Speedway, was the first to attempt to track down Daum while Gennetten and Guilford would battle for third.
We would draw out the Honest Abe Roofing caution flag for the 7A of Armitage with a flat tire in turn three. He would take a quick trip to the work area and return to the tail of the field. Top three at the Gibbsville Cheese Restart Cone would be Daum, Julien, and Guilford.
It would shape up to be “Slider City” with Guilford and Gennetten battling for fourth when the Oconomowoc, WI native would slide race-long leader Zach Daum for the lead just before Geoff Dodge came to a stop on the front stretch.
Guilford would briefly take the lead from Julien, but at the next lap Julien would overtake the lead back. We’d go red for Colton Fisher, who was able to walk away from the scene. Guilford would have a flat tire before returning to the tail of the field. Julien would lead the way to the green with the 3 of Gennetten and the 79 of Nimee behind him. Youth versus experience would count us down the last fifteen laps.
Goldesberry would advance to fourth, as we would go down to 5 laps. Fans began to get on their seat for the idea that a 16 year old would achieve his first IRA Sprint Car Series win on the Bill Waite Jr memorial race. The white flag would wave as Aryton Gennetten would go door to door with the 85J. It was anyone’s game going down the back stretch. Logan Julien would take the checkered by less than a second over Aryton Gennetten. Blake Nimee would settle for third.
The series will take on a triple header at the Plymouth Dirt Track for the Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday night, Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday for the final Sprint Car Show at the facility, then cap it off at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, WI. You can catch all the action live on FloRacing.
