LOGAN JULIEN CAPTURES BACK-TO-BACK VICTORIES WITH THRILLING WIN AT PLYMOUTH
The coveted Sheboygan County Fair Race rolled into the grounds with a 28 car field on a beautiful August night. Logan Julien was quick immediately for Box3 Media Hot Laps and picked up the Hi-Plains Building Division Quicktime Award in Carbon Safety Technologies Qualifying.
Heat races belonged to Plymouth native, Travis Arenz in Fox Lake Harbor Presents Allstar Performance Heat one, Max Guilford in BodyCraft of Antioch presents Behling Racing Heat two, and Austin Hartmann in Game Day Men’s Health presents Engler Machine & Tool Heat three.
The Horizon Whiskey Dash Draw sat Jake Neuman on the pole of Optimum Electric Dash one and Max Guilford on the pole of Kristine Hartmann-Pleasant View Realty dash two. Both of those drivers won their dashes. The Behling Racing Equipment B Main went to Thomas Schinderle and the A Main Apparel B-Main Award went to Scott Conger.
Come feature time, the Auckland, NZ native led the field to green. Going into turn 4, Guilford decided to take the high side of the track, allowing Neuman to pass for the lead. Guilford quickly fought back and took the lead back.
Julien and Neuman would race behind the Honest Abe Roofing 16c, but the 3N and 85J wouldn’t let the Rookie of the Year contender get away too far. Travis would pass Julien for third and break into the gap between himself and Neuman.
Five laps to go, Guilford would enter into lap traffic. Arenz would pass Neuman for second, and the 85J would have a run against the 3N to overtake him as well. Arenz would begin to close just as the 99 of Tyler Brabant would draw out the Honest Abe Roofing Caution Flag, who was running 17th at the time.
Max Guilford, Travis Arenz, and Jake Neuman would be the top three as we restart the race with 22 laps remaining. Danny Schlafer would be the first to try the low side in turns one and two, but without completing a lap, Austin Hartman would draw out another Honest Abe Roofing Caution Flag.
Schlafer would try to peek under Julien, but the 85J would hang onto 4th. In turns one and two, Logan Julien would grab third once more from Jake Neuman. The race would be for the leader as Arenz would be less than a second behind the race leader, Max Guilford. The top in turn three and four would be the route to go, as the 16c would hang onto the lead against Arenz. Julien would close in behind Arenz with 10 laps remaining, just before the 4k of Spitz would slow on the backstretch.
Guilford would have the pack behind him once more with 10 laps remaining. In turns three and four, Julien would fire a slider against Travis Arenz and grab second. He would go to the bottom again in three or four and begin to close the gap between him and Guilford. With five laps remaining, the gap between the 16c and 85J would be 0.2 seconds. Both cars pinned to the bottom in turns three and four, but with three laps to go, Guilford would change his lines and to the cushion, which would allow the 85J to grab the lead with three laps to go. Guilford would see the white flag in second, giving it all the 16c had he would take to the cushion one more time, allowing the 25T of Arenz to get by as Logan Julien would take the win on Fair night at the Plymouth Dirt Track.
The RT’s Fifth Quarter Hard Charger would go to Corbin Gurley, and the Honest Abe Roofing Rookie of the Race belonged to Max Guilford in third.
The action continues tonight for the Jim Wipperfurth Memorial / Harry Neitzel Tribute with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints, MSA Sprints, and the IRA Lighting Sprints. The weekend concludes at The Hill Raceway in Stergeon Bay, WI on Sunday where the series is joined by the Wisconsin Wingless Sprints.
