Pokorski dealt mixed bag in IRA tripleheader

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 2, 2025 – A three-race Labor Day holiday weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series competition produced varying results for the Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team at The Plymouth Dirt Track, Beaver Dam Raceway and The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay.

The tripleheader got underway at The Plymouth Dirt Track during the Sheboygan County Fair on Friday, Aug. 29.

After qualifying 18th in the 28-car field, the fifth-year Sprint Car racer moved up a position in the third heat race to place fifth and secure a spot in the 30-lap main event. Pokorski drove a smooth and consistent race to equal his career-best IRA A-main finish with a 13th place showing in the 30-lap headliner.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, the team headed to Beaver Dam Raceway for the Harry Neitzel Tribute-Jim Wipperfurth Memorial Race, which was billed as the final Sprint Car race to be held at the facility, which is currently up for sale.

The West Bend, Wis. native, opened the evening by qualifying 30th out of the 34 cars on hand. His qualifying effort dropped him back to an eighth place starting position in the second heat race. Pokorski advanced one position to place seventh.

In the 12-lap B Main, Pokorski needed to get from his ninth starting spot to sixth to transfer to the A main. He was able to advance two places. However, he fell three positions short of making it into the 30-lap main event.

The team’s debut appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., on Sunday, Aug. 31, was a brief one. Pokorski qualified 16th in the 22-car field. However, the motor in the No. 4 car expired in the first heat race, bringing the night to an early end.

Despite losing a motor, the team will be in action this Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association for the annual Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.

“We are renting a motor from Russ Wetenkamp and the GR8 team to run at Cedar Lake this weekend," Pokorski said. "We are very thankful to Russ and the GR8 guys for lending us a hand to get to the next race."
